  • Accurately undertake any necessary take-offs of drawings and schedules and perform data entry into the estimating software
  • Provide detailed scope of works with breakdowns
  • Be commercially aware and ensure estimates are fully quantified and commercially robust
  • Oversee the compilation of the tender return to ensure all elements are accounted for prior to submittal
  • Provide ongoing assistance to the projects team if requests for the generation of variation costs are received
  • Working with various business systems to follow company processes and maintain data integrity
  • Adhere to company standards and guidelines when analysing and providing estimations; focus on maximizing profit and customer satisfaction, while minimizing any potential risks to the company
  • Identify and review material and labour requirements in order to determine which is more cost effective
  • Show creativity and resourcefulness in order to gain the best pricing from sub-contractors
  • Will be involved in winning and tendering desired projects with suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Reviewing tender documentation issued by clients and drive a thorough understanding of requirements.
  • Responsible for accurately quantifying materials, plant and labour requirements for allocated projects, ensure that for pre-designed projects, enquiries relative to the supply of materials, plant and labour is satisfactorily dealt with and that relevant information, contractual and trading particulars are distributed.
  • Set up, in conjunction with others, estimating process and procedures, systems and data base. Maintain the estimating system to ensure all labour norms and prime costs are correct.
  • Prepare tender risk analysis and ensure tender submission is appropriately clarified.
  • Prepare Contractors proposals forming part of the tender submission, together with tender programmes, organisation charts, method statements etc.
  • Send out enquiries and work closely with the M&E Buyer and supply chain at tender stage to ensure that we have a correct and competitive prime cost. Vet all subcontractor and plant tender submissions for compliance.
  • Provide estimating workload planner and maintain a data base of bids submitted.
  • Follow up bids after submission and bid manage through to contract where required. This will include obtaining feedback on our price.
  • Working closely with the Electrical Operations Manager(s) to assist with the day to day running of the Electrical Team.
  • Lead and manage the estimating of all Electrical small works
  • Review building plans and specifications to determine the layout for Electrical systems and the related equipment.
  • Advising the Electrical Operations Manager of labour requirements for upcoming Electrical works.
  • Communicating and providing the relevant health and safety information to QHSE Manager.
  • Deliver and gain information to pass on to the Project Managers for project costs.
  • Communicate with the Electrical Operations Manager(s) on a regular basis to discuss projects in more detail and to overcome unforeseen problems regarding installation as they arise.
  • Liaise with Electrical Operations Manager(s) for material ordering, travel and accommodation requirements.
  • Maintain all building codes, installation requirements and relevant legislation
