Design & Technology Technician – Secondary School – Farnborough
Full-Time | Term Time Only | Permanent Role
Start Date: September 2025

GSL Education is proud to be supporting a welcoming and forward-thinking secondary school in Farnborough in their search for a full-time Design & Technology Technician to join their team from September 2025.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a practical, organised, and enthusiastic individual to support the delivery of an engaging Design & Technology curriculum. The successful candidate will be a key member of the department, assisting both staff and students in preparing materials and resources, maintaining tools and equipment, and ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, set up and maintain tools, materials and equipment for practical lessons across various D&T disciplines including product design, resistant materials, and graphics.
  • Support teaching staff and students during lessons, offering technical guidance and ensuring health and safety standards are always upheld.
  • Maintain an organised and efficient workshop environment, including monitoring stock levels and ordering materials as needed.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment and machinery, logging any issues and arranging repairs where necessary.
  • Assist with the creation of displays and resources that support the department’s teaching and learning objectives.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have relevant experience working in a workshop, school, or similar technical environment.
  • Possess strong practical skills in the use of a range of tools and equipment, including hand tools and machinery.
  • Be confident in promoting and maintaining high standards of health and safety.
  • Be proactive, flexible and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Hold or be willing to complete appropriate health & safety and safeguarding training.
