Are you a hands-on leader with a passion for plant machinery and workshop operations? Our client is seeking a Workshop Manager to take full control of the busy Farnborough-based workshop.

This role blends office coordination with practical, on-the-ground leadership, working closely with and reporting to the General Manager. You'll be empowered to make decisions, drive performance, and maintain the highest standards across all workshop activities.

Ideally, you’ll be familiar with:

  • 3-phase, hydraulic, and diesel-powered plant
  • Robotic demolition machines
  • Floor preparation equipment
  • Hydraulic power packs
  • Hybrid/battery-powered machines (e.g., JCB & WackerNeuson)

Your day-to-day responsibilities as a Workshop Manager will include:

  • Overseeing all workshop operations and ensuring smooth daily running
  • Supporting and motivating your team - bringing high morale and a can-do attitude
  • Ensuring safety and quality standards in collaboration with our H&S consultant
  • Managing plant repairs, maintenance, testing, and refurbishment
  • Leading stock control and spare parts ordering with cost-efficiency in mind
  • Handling workshop training, recruitment, and staff retention plans
  • Playing an active role in plant purchasing decisions and quality control
  • Conducting customer demos
  • Managing daily plant returns and customer support queries
  • Developing processes using the hire system
  • Maintaining a clean and organised workshop and yard

What we’re looking for:

  • Hands-on, proactive approach - willing to jump on the tools when needed
  • Leadership mindset with a focus on team morale and high standards
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines while maintaining quality
  • Confidence in customer-facing situations and technical problem solving
