Assistant Technical Manager - Food Manufacturing

Location: Faversham, Kent Type: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

We are excited to offer an opportunity for a proactive and detail-driven Assistant Technical Manager to join a BRCGS-accredited food manufacturing business known for producing high-quality products. As the company continues to grow, this role plays a key part in maintaining technical and quality excellence across the site.

This standalone position is ideal for an experienced technical professional who enjoys a hands-on role and is passionate about food safety, compliance, and continuous improvement. While support is available from a wider group technical team, you’ll be the on-site lead for all technical matters.

Key Responsibilities

· Provide specialist technical advice to support and strengthen the food safety culture on site

· Maintain and manage the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with the latest BRCGS and HACCP standards

· Lead and facilitate internal and external audits, including GMP audits

· Conduct investigations, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective and preventative actions

· Collaborate with Sales and NPD teams to ensure timely completion of product specifications

· Manage allergen testing and send samples/swabs to external labs within required timeframes

· Oversee traceability exercises, withdrawal, and recall testing

· Calibrate measuring equipment (e.g. scales and temperature probes) periodically

· Be an active contributor to the HACCP team and overall site standards

· Work closely with all departments to uphold high levels of food safety and product quality

Candidate Requirements

· Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Technical or Quality role within food manufacturing (essential)

· HACCP Level 3 food safety qualification or equivalent

· Strong working knowledge of BRCGS standards and food safety procedures

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

· Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

· Confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)

· Customer-focused, collaborative, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
