International transport company based in Felixstowe with a European HQ are seeking an experience Logistics specialist to join our dynamic team in Felixstowe.
You will play a key role in ensuring the effective utilization of our trailer fleet, coordinating the movement of trailers between Europe and the UK. This position requires a detailed understanding of cross-border logistics, trailer positioning, and compliance with both EU and UK regulations. You will work closely with our Truck Planners, Operations Team, and Yard Managers to optimize the use of our trailer assets, ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of goods across borders.
Responsibilities:
- Trailer Coordination & Positioning: Plan and manage the availability, location, and movement of trailers between European terminals and UK distribution points. Ensure trailers are staged and ready for timely pickup and delivery.
- Cross-Border Coordination: Work closely with cross-border teams to ensure trailers are positioned in the right locations for seamless transport across the EU-UK border. This includes dealing with customs processes, border regulations, and relevant paperwork.
- Drop-and-Hook Operations: Oversee drop-and-hook procedures, ensuring trailers are ready for quick swaps at borders or delivery points, minimizing downtime and optimizing fleet efficiency.
- Trailer Maintenance: Work with the maintenance team to schedule preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs. Ensure that all trailers are compliant with UK and EU safety and environmental standards.
- Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all trailers and related equipment comply with EU and UK transportation regulations, including those related to weight limits, customs, and safety.
Experience:
- 2-4 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or fleet management, with at least one year in cross-border transport operations between Europe and the UK.
- Familiarity withTransportation Management Systems (TMS)and trailer tracking software.
- Understanding ofEU-UK border regulationsand customs procedures.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with an ability to plan and adjust based on changing demands.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and fleet management tools.
