My client is seeking a Business Development Manager to join their Freight Forwarding team in the UK. Reporting to the UK Sales Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing business development activities across all industry verticals within a designated territory. This role involves promoting a portfolio of products within the freight forwarding and logistics industry, targeting new business opportunities, and building a pipeline to support the branch network.
Day-to-day of the role:•   Seek and generate new business opportunities across all industry verticals within the designated branches and region.•   Qualify new business leads using advanced sales skills, planning, and relationship management.•   Implement sales strategies to develop both short-term and long-term target accounts.•   Ensure sales activities and processes align with GDP diligence and compliance while maintaining GDPR compliance.•   Provide first-class customer service to deliver on customer solutions.•   Exceed new business sales targets including revenue and gross profit.•   Utilise the Customer Relationship Management System for daily reporting, providing data and statistics to support sales activities.•   Collaborate across the business to maximise sales opportunities and work in partnership with Branch Operations and other teams to win, retain, and develop new and existing business.•   Act as an ambassador for the organisation within the local/regional community, promoting its services and values.
Required Skills & Qualifications:•   Proven track record of successful business development within the freight forwarding and logistics service provision.•   Ability to liaise at customer board level and manage high-level relationships.•   Strong experience in generating new business opportunities and implementing sales strategies.•   Demonstrated success in achieving and exceeding new business sales targets.•   Proficient in using CRM systems to support sales activities.•   Excellent negotiation skills and a firm understanding of the sales cycle.•   Good presentation skills and the ability to develop sound commercial proposals.•   Computer literacy, including proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
