Freightserve recruitment are looking for a Senior Export Clerk for a well-established Freight Forwarder based in the Feltham, Middlesex area.
Key Responsibilities:-
- Arrange and manage air export shipments from origin to destination
- Book cargo space with airlines and liaise with customers and freight partners. Researching and planning the most appropriate route for a shipment (taking into account the perishable or hazardous nature of the goods, cost, transit time and security)
- Monitor shipment progress and provide real-time updates to clients
- CASS (If required)
- Arranging appropriate packing (taking account of climate, terrain, weight, nature of goods and cost), delivery and warehousing of goods at their final destination.
- Obtaining, checking and preparing documentation to meet customs and insurance requirements, packing specifications, and compliance with overseas countries' regulations and fiscal regimes.
- Offering consolidation services by air, ensuring cost-effective and secure solutions to small shippers with insufficient cargo to utilise their own dedicated units.
- Liaising with third parties to move goods by air in accordance with customer requirements.
- Arranging insurance as required
- Understanding and use of electronic e-mail and word documents.
- Liaising with management for large volumes and out-of-gauge movements by air.
Documentation & Compliance:-
- Prepare and process export documentation (HAWB, MAWB, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin)
- Data Entry Accuracy: Ensuring correct input of shipment and billing details.
- Complete customs entries using CDS
- Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and internal SOPs
Customer Service:-
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients regarding shipments
- Sometimes providing quotes and resolve queries or delays
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and logistics partners
- Clear and professional communication with clients, airlines, and internal teams.
- Team Collaboration: Working effectively with colleagues in operations, sales, and accounts.
- Problem Solving: Handling delays, missing documents, or urgent shipments calmly and efficiently.
Experience:
Minimum 2-3 years in Air export freight forwarding.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and within a team
High attention to detail and time management
IT literate
Understanding of air freight operations and customs procedures
Familiarity with CDS and airway bill preparation
Working Hours: Monday - Friday () Saturday morning on a rota basis.
