Student Learning Advisor

Temporary, ongoing

Part time (18 hours per week, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday)

Salary - £15,055

This is a parttime, temporary position to support the academic success of individual students by providing personal support through regular guidance, tracking and target setting. Referral to other supports services as appropriate; contributing to student progression and career plans; contributing to the development of the skills, knowledge and attributes needed for work and life as an effective citizen. A key focus of the role is to provide individual support via one-to-one interviews. 

Main duties:

  • Deliver a tutorial curriculum that allows students the opportunity to reflect on their learning and progression whilst developing the skills that actively promote resilience, confident and independence preparing them for suture success in their next steps.
  • Holding regular one-to-one with students promoting high expectations of attendance, punctuality and behaviour.
  • Provide pastoral support for designated groups of students and ensure appropriate support where needed.
  • Work closely with at risk students, their parents / carers and colleagues to ensure they maintain good attendance and behaviour.
  • Maintain effective and detailed individual records for each tutee.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience or aptitude for working successfully with young people to help ensure they achieve their goals.
  • Have worked in an education, youth or community setting.
  • Can build effective working relationships with a wide range of individuals.
  • Able to deliver well structured tutorial sessions to groups
