Nine Twenty Highland are proud to be supporting a leading industrial employer in the Highlands with the appointment of a Electrical Maintenance Engineer -  This is a key role within the engineering function, offering the opportunity to play a central part in developing a reliability-centred maintenance culture within a complex, heavy engineering environment.

The Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Department Engineer will provide technical leadership and expertise across both planned and reactive maintenance activities. While primarily office-based, this role works closely with operations, maintenance teams and contractors to drive continuous improvement, safety, and reliability across site.

Key Responsibilities

Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ):

  • Ensure all engineering activities are carried out in line with health, safety and environmental standards
  • Lead and support accident and incident investigations, ensuring robust corrective actions
  • Ensure isolation procedures are followed correctly, including control of hazardous energy
  • Provide clear, safe instructions and ensure teams are adequately trained for all tasks
  • Contribute to the development, review and compliance of company policies and procedures

Maintenance & Reliability:

  • Lead and deliver the weekly maintenance schedule using CMMS and site information centres
  • Manage and develop trade and apprentice workforce within your area
  • Instil a strong reliability-focused culture across the maintenance function
  • Lead site reliability projects using recognised lean principles
  • Identify and respond to changes in engineering standards or legislation

Technical Leadership & Development:

  • Support fault diagnosis and equipment failure analysis
  • Coach and mentor engineers and technicians to improve competency and performance
  • Support apprentice development in line with long-term workforce planning
  • Work towards becoming an Isolation Officer (IO) and Senior Authorised Person (SAP)

 

Projects & Contractors:

  • Manage external engineering contractors to meet safety, cost, quality and time expectations
  • Support new equipment installation with a focus on long-term maintainability
  • Lead and support engineering maintenance projects across the site

Essential Skills:

  • Strong engineering maintenance background – electrical bias
  • Good working knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation
  • HNC or above in an engineering discipline or demonstrable experience with willingness to undertake further study
  • Experience working with industrial-scale process plant operations and maintenance
  • Proven people management, coaching or mentoring experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
