Location: Gainsborough, with travel required across the UK, (flexible working available subject to agreement following probation).

The Road Safety Markings Association (RSMA) is one of the largest specialist trade bodies in the Highways sector and plays a pivotal role in the development of the UK road marking industry.

We are a small, dynamic trade association dedicated to representing and supporting our members through advocacy, networking, events, and communications. With a collaborative team environment, we provide opportunities for learning, growth, and meaningful contribution to the industry.

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Marketing & Events Assistant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in marketing, communications, and events while working across a broad range of activities. The role will involve event organisation, member communications, digital content creation, and administrative support.

The successful candidate will play an active role in delivering our events and campaigns, including attending and supporting events away from home (some overnight stays required) and occasionally giving presentations to members and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, promotion, and delivery of events, including conferences, training sessions, and networking opportunities.
  • Attend events in person, providing on-site support, and representing the association professionally.
  • Deliver presentations or briefings to members and stakeholders as required.
  • Draft and distribute newsletters, website updates, and social media content.
  • Support the production of marketing and promotional materials.
  • Maintain and update the membership database (CRM system) to ensure accurate records and reporting.
  • Respond to member enquiries and provide excellent customer service.
  • Contribute to market research and data analysis to support campaigns and member engagement.
  • Undertake general administrative tasks to support the team.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent IT proficiency, including full competence with MS Office Suite.
  • Experience or familiarity with CRM systems (or willingness to learn).
  • Willingness to travel and stay overnight to support events.
  • Team player with a proactive, can-do attitude.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a marketing, communications, or events role (internship/placement acceptable).
  • Confidence in presenting to an audience (training can be provided).
  • Experience of working in a membership organisation or trade association.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing tools (e.g., social media management, email marketing platforms).
  • Basic design skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe InDesign) for creating promotional content.
