Job Title: Shift Maintenance Electrician

Overview

Responsible for ensuring plant and equipment are safe, operational, and maintained to minimize downtime. This role involves responding to breakdowns, performing planned maintenance, and troubleshooting electrical systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.



Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure plant and equipment are available and safe for use.
  • Respond promptly to machinery breakdowns.
  • Follow weekly planned maintenance schedules.
  • Complete work orders accurately.
  • Maintain a strong focus on personal and team safety.
  • Communicate and report engineering issues and resolutions to supervisors and the maintenance team.
  • Assist other departments as required.
  • Work flexibly as part of a team.
  • Perform all work in compliance with electrical codes and standards.


Core Processes

  • Conduct maintenance on electrical systems.
  • Identify and repair electrical problems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing devices.
  • Test electrical systems and components for proper functionality.
  • Complete planned and preventative maintenance on plant and equipment.
  • Handle inverter control (change-out, setup).
  • Program and fault-find PLCs (preferably Allen Bradley).
  • Read, create, and modify electrical drawings.
  • Document shift issues and communicate to incoming shifts.
  • Attend maintenance meetings when required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping standards.


Requirements

  • Experience in medium to large process environments.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems maintenance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical issues.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming and fault finding.
  • Competence in reading and modifying electrical drawings.
  • Understanding of inverter control systems.


Performance Measurement

  • Achievement of maintenance objectives.
  • Reduction of site downtime in line with KPIs.
