The role will be responsible for assisting the senior planner in the production of detailed programmes for all phases of project lifecycles. The business is hugely successful in their field and boast a reputation which is second to none!

The Job you will do:

  • Learn the basics of Asta software to create a new programme
  • Produce basic bill of quantities from own take off from drawings & convert to outputs for build periods
  • Produce a logical programme for projects, from start to completion using their quantities where possible
  • Logic links the programme & show critical path
  • Produce a report drop-line on the programme & re-schedule
  • Understand the importance of monitoring the target programme on a daily & weekly, monthly basis and the risks to the business if not done
  • Attend sites & produce a report drop-line on a live programme
  • Understand where the critical activities are ahead / behind & suggest understanding measures for programme recovery
  • Produce a short-term programme for the project
  • Assist with a tender programme - how it is produced from reading the documents, noting critical information - start dates / completion dates / phasing requirements / form of contract/ understand drawings, quantities & request specialist input regarding build periods - lead-in periods etc
  • Gathering of information and creation of reports to substantiate progress measurements, ensuring that the programme is communicated effectively both internally and externally and liaising with the Project / Site Managers, Site Engineers and Sub-Contractors to ensure that the programme keeps abreast of any changes
  • Understand contracts such as the JCT, NEC, ECC3 and their requirements
  • Take part in project handover meetings engaging the design team, project managers / and planning best practices
  • Support programme integration, formats, plan optimisation, and planning best practices
  • Work within the company multi-disciplinary departments
  • Keep abreast of current & new planning techniques, technologies and initiatives
  • Prepare progress reports based on base line programme and critical path and any other required rescheduling
  • Maintain records and as built programmes
  • Produce detailed claims and EOT programmes
  • Understand all current build systems and methods
  • Understand and plan Health and Safety requirements into the programme
  • Working with the bid team, understanding tender and employer / stakeholder requirements and constraints
  • Producing tender programmes and quality submission documents ensuring all constraints are understood
  • Add value engineering proposals into the tender
  • Produce scaffold schedules for pricing
  • Production of cost plan programmes
  • Engage with specialist subcontractors to gain optimum activity and procurement periods

About you:

  • Previous experience within the construction industry
  • Excellent time and project management skills
  • The ability to work to tight delivery deadlines
  • Solving problems that occur using analytical skills
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office packages
  • Polite and approachable with a professional manner.
  • Good verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Able to get on well with a range of people.
