Role Purpose

We're looking for an experienced Warehouse Manager to lead and manage all warehouse operations at a busy site in Gateshead. The successful candidate will ensure service excellence, safety, and productivity across all areas of the operation. This is a key leadership role, responsible for people management, cost control, resource planning, and maintaining high operational standards to deliver outstanding customer satisfaction.



Key Responsibilities



Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, motivate, and develop a diverse warehouse team to achieve performance, safety, and service objectives.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

  • Manage recruitment, training, and performance development for all warehouse staff.

  • Drive employee engagement through clear communication, coaching, and recognition.

  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, employment law, and health & safety regulations.



Operational Excellence

  • Oversee day-to-day warehouse operations including goods in/out, storage, inventory control, and dispatch.

  • Monitor and analyse operational KPIs to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and quality.

  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives and share best practice across the wider operation.

  • Ensure full adherence to customer service level agreements (SLAs) and quality standards.



Financial & Budget Control

  • Manage the warehouse budget, ensuring cost efficiency and effective resource utilisation.

  • Prepare and analyse financial and operational reports to support decision-making.

  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.



Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in warehouse or logistics management, ideally within a fast-paced 3PL or transport environment.

  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of developing and motivating teams.

  • Excellent operational planning, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Solid understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control.

  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and performance metrics.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • A proactive, hands-on approach with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
