Role Purpose
We're looking for an experienced Warehouse Manager to lead and manage all warehouse operations at a busy site in Gateshead. The successful candidate will ensure service excellence, safety, and productivity across all areas of the operation. This is a key leadership role, responsible for people management, cost control, resource planning, and maintaining high operational standards to deliver outstanding customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
Lead, motivate, and develop a diverse warehouse team to achieve performance, safety, and service objectives.
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Manage recruitment, training, and performance development for all warehouse staff.
Drive employee engagement through clear communication, coaching, and recognition.
Ensure compliance with all company policies, employment law, and health & safety regulations.
Operational Excellence
Oversee day-to-day warehouse operations including goods in/out, storage, inventory control, and dispatch.
Monitor and analyse operational KPIs to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and quality.
Champion continuous improvement initiatives and share best practice across the wider operation.
Ensure full adherence to customer service level agreements (SLAs) and quality standards.
Financial & Budget Control
Manage the warehouse budget, ensuring cost efficiency and effective resource utilisation.
Prepare and analyse financial and operational reports to support decision-making.
Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience in warehouse or logistics management, ideally within a fast-paced 3PL or transport environment.
Strong leadership skills with a track record of developing and motivating teams.
Excellent operational planning, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Solid understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control.
Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and performance metrics.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
A proactive, hands-on approach with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
