Quality Assurance Technician

Location: Gateshead

Duration: 3-Month Contract

£15 per hour

We are currently recruiting for a Quality Assurance Technician to join a busy food manufacturing site in Gateshead on a 3-month contract.

This role operates on a rotating shift pattern:

  • 2 weeks days - 6am – 2pm
  • 2 weeks backshift - 2pm – 10pm

The Role

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring all work-in-progress and finished products meet company and customer quality, safety, and legal standards.

You’ll be responsible for maintaining high standards of Hygiene, GMP, and HACCPcompliance across the factory and supporting investigations and quality controls throughout production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sampling, inspection, and sensory testing of products in line with QA procedures
  • Monitoring CCPs, GMP, and hygiene standards across production lines
  • Logging non-conformances, CAPAs, product holds, releases, and disposals via M3ERP
  • Shelf-life testing, incubation studies, and environmental monitoring
  • Supporting investigations into food safety incidents, complaints, allergens, and pest sightings
  • Conducting GMP audits and reporting findings at shift handovers
  • Reviewing hygiene monitoring results (ATP, CIP) and raising non-conformances
  • Maintaining accurate QA records and QMS documentation
  • Ensuring QA work areas and equipment are clean, safe, and compliant

About You

  • Previous experience in a QA / Technical role within food manufacturing
  • Strong working knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and hygiene standards
  • Confident using quality systems and ERP systems (M3 experience desirable)
  • Detail-focused with strong communication skills
  • Comfortable working rotating day and backshift patterns
