Social Worker - Kinship TeamLocation: Gateshead Borough CouncilHourly Rate: £27.56Contract Type: Temporary / Full timeRole Overview:As a Social Worker within the Kinship Team, you will be responsible for assessing and supporting individuals who are considering becoming kinship carers. This includes conducting viability and connected person assessments, supporting carers through the fostering process, and providing ongoing post-order support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Viability Assessments: Evaluate the suitability of potential kinship carers to ensure they can meet the needs of the child.

  • Connected Person Assessments: Undertake comprehensive assessments to determine the appropriateness of a family member or friend to care for a child.

  • Support for Kinship Carers: Provide guidance and assistance to approved kinship carers, ensuring they have the resources and support needed to care for the child.

  • Post-Order Support: Offer continued support and guidance to kinship carers after legal orders are in place, ensuring the child's well-being and stability.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with other professionals and agencies to ensure the best outcomes for children and families.

  • Training and Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Social Work Qualification: Degree or diploma in Social Work.

  • Registration: Must be registered with Social Work England.

  • Experience: Previous experience in children's services, particularly in kinship care or fostering, is desirable.

  • Skills: Strong communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.
