Experienced Site Manager – Immediate Start
Location: Gillingham, Medway

Supply Desk are seeking a reliable, experienced, and proactive individual to join the team at a secondary grammar school in Gillingham, Medway, as a Site Manager. If you have experience in site management, caretaking, or maintenance and are looking for a new opportunity, this could be the perfect role for you.

This is a temporary position starting ASAP and running until the end of the academic year, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. The role is full-time, working 5 days per week, with flexible working hours to suit the needs of the school, including early mornings and late evenings.

The school is a secondary grammar school in Gillingham, Medway, and they are looking for someone with the practical skills and initiative to maintain a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for both staff, pupils, and visitors.

About the Role:

As Site Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the school premises. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Opening and closing the school each day, including early mornings and late evenings.

  • Ensuring the premises are secure, clean, and safe at all times.

  • Undertaking basic maintenance and repairs across the site, including plumbing, electrical checks, and decorating.

  • Managing Health and Safety requirements, such as fire safety checks, legionella flushing, and COSHH compliance.

  • Responding promptly to emergencies, including call-outs and unexpected repairs.

  • Preparing the site during adverse weather conditions, such as frost and snow.

  • Supervising contractors and overseeing any external works on the premises.

  • Portering and waste management.

What We’re Looking For:
  • Experience as a Site Manager, Caretaker, or Handyman, ideally within a school environment or with general maintenance experience.

  • A proactive, reliable approach with the ability to carry out a range of basic repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and decorating work.

  • Fire and safety training is ideal but not essential.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

  • Ability to work independently, be proactive, and manage your time effectively.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety regulations and practices.

  • Experience in supervising contractors and overseeing external works.
