Prospero Teaching are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and experienced Tutor to support a young person in Year 2 who requires alternative provision.
This learner has had a disrupted start to education due to moving placements (LAC), but is now currently attending school. Input from a tutor is required to support his current learning needs, working on early reading, writing and math's.
This young person is described as having developmental delays and speech and language needs. There may be further learning needs which have not yet been assessed. They will need a tutor with an understanding of SEND, as well as trauma and attachment.
As a SEN Tutor, you will:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging sessions that meet the needs of students.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and support to help them achieve their full potential.
- Record student progress and report on this weekly.
- Be understanding, empathetic and patient.
- Record attendance.
- Be organised, dependable and creative.
- Be calm, fair and adaptable.
About you:
- Experience working with young people in UK schools
- Background in SEN education or alternative provision- desirable but not essential
- Confident delivering Maths and English
- Empathetic, reliable, and calm under pressure
- Able to build trusting relationships and foster a love of learning
- Experience of working with young people with SEMH needs

Hours - This young person requires 3 hours per week, but tutors can work with more than one student to build up hours.
Essential & Desirable Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools- ESSENTIAL
- Experience of working with learners with SEN/SEMH needs
To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
- Hold right to work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide references upon request
- Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
