Mechanical Estimator – Data Centres – Glasgow


Our client is a €2bn turnover, Tier:1 main contractor operating across the UK, Ireland & Europe. They undertake major, complex schemes with a particular emphasis on Data Centres, Pharmaceutical and Life Science projects

Due to continued growth in the region of their Data Centre projects division, our client is now seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare Detailed Estimates: Develop accurate cost estimates for mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, plumbing, fire protection) based on project drawings, specifications, and other technical documents.
  • Review Project Scope: Analyse project requirements, specifications, and design documents to understand the scope and ensure all mechanical system needs are addressed in the estimate.
  • Coordinate with Stakeholders: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and subcontractors to gather necessary information and ensure alignment on project goals, cost expectations, and timelines.
  • Identify and Mitigate Risks: Assess potential risks to project budgets and timelines, providing strategies to mitigate or address cost overruns or delays related to mechanical systems.
  • Prepare Bid Proposals: Generate and submit detailed bid proposals, outlining cost breakdowns and justifications for mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and standards.
  • Monitor and Update Estimates: Continuously track changes in project scope, material costs, and labour rates, updating estimates as necessary to reflect any modifications or adjustments during the project's lifecycle.

Requirements:

  • A Third Level Qualification in Quantity Surveying and/or Mechanical Engineering
  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role
