Job Title: Senior Civil Engineer / Civil Engineer – EPC Projects

An established and respected international business, EPC projects in the energy and infrastructure sectors have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer or Civil Engineer to join their high-performing team in Glasgow, on a permanent staff basis.

This is a key appointment within the UK engineering function, offering long-term career development and exposure to complex EPC projects.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, UK, you will be responsible for the civil engineering elements of major EPC projects from tender stage through to construction and final handover.

This includes oversight of design, compliance, construction support, and contract management.

The role is client-facing and will involve liaison with multiple stakeholders including utilities, consultants, and internal delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Engineering

  • Review, assess and comment on civil and structural engineering documentation in line with contractual and regulatory requirements.

  • Liaise with external designers and manage technical queries, site issues and remedial works.

  • Support statutory compliance activities such as CDM and temporary works coordination.

  • Contribute engineering input during feasibility, design, construction, and commissioning stages.

  • Ensure alignment with UK building codes, standards, and industry best practice.

Project and Contract Management

  • Develop project requirements, cost estimates, and civil engineering scope.

  • Contribute to tendering processes and selection of contractors and suppliers.

  • Monitor programme progress and ensure delivery to scope, schedule and budget.

  • Provide support in managing commercial and technical risks.

  • Engage with clients and third parties to ensure smooth project execution and change management.

Candidate Profile

Experience and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in civil engineering within EPC or major infrastructure projects.

  • Strong understanding of UK building regulations and standards.

  • Experience with utility companies such as National Grid, SSE, or EDF is advantageous.

  • Degree-qualified in civil engineering or a related discipline; chartered or working towards chartered status is preferred.
