Our client, a leading firm in the highways sector, is currently seeking a Principal Highways Engineer to join their team in Glasgow. This is an exciting opportunity for a Chartered Civil Engineer to lead and deliver major highways and infrastructure projects, including strategic roads, trunk road improvements, active travel, and public realm schemes. The role offers flexible working arrangements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading and delivering major highways and infrastructure projects
- Managing multidisciplinary teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects
- Overseeing design processes and project delivery
- Engaging with clients and stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met
- Mentoring and providing guidance to junior staff
- Ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations
- Preparing technical reports and documentation
- Contributing to business development and maintaining excellent client relationships
Job Requirements:
- Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng)
- Strong experience in highways and drainage design (DMRB, LTN 1/20, Civils 3D, SuDS)
- Significant leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for design and project management
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Ability to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders
- Understanding of business development and client relationship management
