Senior Bridge Engineer

General Duties

Managing concurrent projects and work programmes, including completion of the annual bridge inspection and the structures routine, cyclical and planned maintenance programmes for the Kingston Bridge Complex and Port Eglinton Viaduct within the Operating Company Unit.

Management and completion of the specialist improvement programmes as related to Kingston Bridge Complex and Port Eglinton Viaduct, including high risk parapet sites, scour assessments and at risk pier assessments, Hidden Defects, Half Joints, Post-Tensioned Special Inspections and footbridges vulnerable to impact.

Project management, overseeing, evaluation and providing advice on bridge and structural aspects of schemes affecting Kingston Bridge Complex and Port Eglinton Viaduct, and advise on other schemes within Roads, Major Projects & Rail Directorates and external developers as required.

Undertake the Technical Approval Authority role under the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges regarding the Approval in Principle (AIP) for bridges and structures and consideration of Departures for Standard prior to submission for Chief Bridge Engineer endorsement.

Specialist technical co-ordination duties, technical advice and contribution to National Standards, Specifications, Design Guidance and Employer’s Requirements.

Experience

10 years+ experience with design or assessment experience with bridges

You will have a good technical knowledge of maintenance of concrete structures and a good understanding of design codes

Must hold a relevant degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent CEng MICE or MIStructE

Glasgow –2 days per week
