Description

The Commercial Manager will lead commercial (procurement) management across high-volume, fast-moving portfolios in building, civil engineering, maintenance and renewal projects and critical infrastructure support contracts

  • Develop commercial (procurement) strategies and support pre-contract activities to ensure projects are set up for success
  • Collaborate with internal teams, understand stakeholder needs, and build strong supplier relationships
  • Navigate multiple projects at various stages, bringing clarity, structure, and momentum
  • Oversee contractor performance under framework agreements, leading contract negotiations and risk/value assessments
  • Guide and develop a high-performing commercial (procurement) team delivering saving and efficiency targets.

Skills and Knowledge Required

Strong Commercial acumen

Knowledge of railway and/or construction industry conditions of contract

Experienced negotiator

Experience of resolution of construction contract disputes

Relevant railway/construction experience

Knowledge of commercial contract management

Good communication skills

Ideally you will also have experience of managing and developing a team of staff
