Safety Consultant
Location: Glasgow / Aberdeen / Edinburgh

We are seeking an experienced Safety Consultant to join a multidisciplinary consultancy working on complex, high-profile engineering projects. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to critical safety programmes across various sectors, in a team that values deep expertise and collaborative problem-solving.

Applicants should hold a degree in engineering or a relevant science discipline, and have 5 to 10+ years of relevant experience. Strong analytical, numerical, and communication skills are essential.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of safety cases, HSE management systems, and ALARP justifications

  • Delivery of risk and hazard studies such as HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, and Bowtie assessments

  • Functional safety tasks including FSA, FMECA, and fault tree analysis

  • Fire, explosion, and gas dispersion modelling using established industry tools

  • Conducting QRA and other technical safety studies (e.g. BRA, EERA, ESSA, FERA, facility siting)

  • Managing CFD studies using HPC and cloud platforms

  • Performing RAM (Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability) analyses

  • Supporting DSEAR/ATEX assessments and hazardous area classification

  • Incorporating Human Factors and safety culture into safety assessments

  • Assisting with project planning, proposal development, and bid submissions

Candidates should demonstrate broad or specialist experience across these areas and be comfortable working independently or within a team setting.
