School Cook/Chef - Glasgow

We are seeking a dedicated School Cook/Chef to join this vibrant team. This role involves preparing nutritious and delicious meals for the students and staff, ensuring dietary requirements are met, and maintaining high standards of kitchen hygiene. The successful candidate will work 5 days a week, including every third weekend, providing an excellent work-life balance.

You will be working on a 3-week Rota with week 1 being - 27 hours, week 2 - 43 Hours and week 3 - 35 hours



Day-to-Day of the Role:

  • Prepare and cook meals according to the school's menu, ensuring all dishes meet nutritional standards and dietary requirements.
  • Manage kitchen inventory, order supplies, and maintain records of food costs and consumption.
  • Ensure the kitchen and all equipment are kept clean and in good working order, complying with health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with school staff to plan menus, taking into account seasonal availability and budget constraints.
  • Engage with students and staff to receive feedback on meals and make adjustments as necessary.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a cook/chef, preferably in an educational setting.
  • PVG cleared to work with under 18's
  • Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with nutrition and dietary restrictions.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Relevant culinary qualification is preferred.
