Are you an experienced Ecologist with a passion for delivering impactful work on nationally significant infrastructure projects? Our client - a leading name in the rail and infrastructure sector - is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Ecologist to join their expanding team in Scotland.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of rail projects, ensuring ecological best practice is at the heart of sustainable infrastructure development. The role offers a balance of fieldwork and office-based reporting, with the chance to be a key voice in environmental management on major schemes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct ecological surveys (e.g., Phase 1 habitat, protected species) and reporting in accordance with current legislation and guidance.
* Provide ecological input into project design, planning, and consenting processes.
* Prepare and review technical reports, mitigation strategies, and ecological management plans.
* Liaise with clients, contractors, and statutory bodies to support project delivery and compliance.
* Assist in gaining necessary licenses and consents for ecological work on site.
* Contribute to EIA and HRA processes where required.
About You:
* Degree qualified in Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field.
* Experience in ecological consultancy or similar, ideally on infrastructure or rail projects.
* Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and relevant ecological survey techniques.
* Membership of CIEEM or working towards it.
* Protected species licenses (e.g., bat, GCN) advantageous.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
