We're recruiting for a talented and motivated Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer (Building Services) to join our growing Special Interest Projects team, based in Edinburgh or Glasgow.
What you'll be doing:
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you'll lead and support the delivery of a broad range of exciting projects-both large and small-across RIBA Stages 2-7. Our work spans energy infrastructure (such as substations), commercial, industrial, and leisure developments, as well as unique and remote projects.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and undertake detailed design and specification of LV electrical installations and distribution systems.
- Specify switchgear, transformers, control equipment, and associated cabling.
- Prepare feasibility studies, concept designs, and implementation strategies.
- Produce and review design documentation including models, drawings, calculations, and specifications.
- Mentor junior engineers and review work to ensure technical excellence and compliance with standards.
- Attend site and design meetings, helping manage workload and project delivery.
- Support business development and work-winning initiatives.
- Act as Job Manager on relevant projects, working closely with Project Managers and delivery teams.
What we're looking for:
- Degree in Building Services Engineering or a related field.
- Chartered or working towards chartership with CIBSE or IET.
- Proven experience in a similar role, ideally including project management responsibility.
- Proficient in Revit, Navisworks, Amtech, Dialux, and clash detection workflows.
- Strong understanding of UK and Scottish Building Regulations and British Standards.
- Knowledge of ISO 19650 and broader information management standards.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in HV design is a bonus.
