Highways Lighting Engineer
We are excited to be representing a leading consultancy who are seeking a Lighting / Electrical Engineer to join their Energy, Lighting & Technology practice in Scotland. With office bases in both Glasgow and Edinburgh, applications are welcomed from across the central belt and surrounding regions.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a consultancy delivering major highways, lighting, and intelligent transport infrastructure projects - including long-term design partnerships on some of the most significant trunk road and civil engineering contracts in Scotland. You will have the chance to contribute to projects with cumulative values in excess of 拢1bn, while developing your skills and career within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.
The Role
As a Lighting / Electrical Engineer, you'll be involved in all stages of the project lifecycle - from concept design to delivery. You will support the development of innovative, value-for-money solutions while ensuring compliance with technical standards and client requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
路Developing effective concept and detailed design solutions across lighting and electrical schemes.
路Supporting feasibility studies, inspections, and cost estimates for works.
路Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including CDM.
路Preparing technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
路Contributing to project planning, programming, and administration.
路Assisting with bid preparation and supporting the delivery of wider consultancy services.
路Liaising with clients and stakeholders to ensure designs are practical, buildable, and sustainable.
路Supervising, mentoring, and developing junior team members.
About You
We are looking for someone who can bring:
路Experience within lighting or electrical engineering, ideally gained in a graduate or assistant engineer role.
路Progress towards a professional qualification with a relevant engineering institution.
路Ability to produce technically sound design outputs under supervision.
路Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental procedures within engineering projects.
路Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, clients, and partners.
