We are looking for a Senior Project Engineer (E&P) with experience in LV Engineering with the ability to undertake the role of CRE and CEM when required.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineering professional to lead multi-disciplinary teams, manage project delivery from design through to handover, and ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering delivery on larger E&P schemes, providing line management for Project Engineers (CREs) and Construction Managers.

  • Undertake CEM & CRE duties in line with Network Rail engineering assurance requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with statutory, industry, and company standards, providing clear communication to project teams.

  • Support bid and tender processes, including design input, buildability reviews, and methodology development.

  • Provide long-term resource planning and forecasting to support strategic project delivery.

  • Guide Construction Managers in aligning budgets and delivery strategies with tender allowances.

  • Oversee risk assessments, safe systems of work, and project documentation.

  • Manage subcontractors to ensure full compliance with safety and quality standards.

  • Lead design reviews throughout the project life cycle to ensure buildability, compliance, and cost efficiency.

  • Mentor and coach junior engineers and site teams in engineering and construction techniques.

  • Ensure all testing and commissioning is carried out in compliance with design, regulations, and standards.

  • Manage change in collaboration with Project Managers, QS, and Construction Managers.

  • Act as key client liaison, ensuring requirements are understood and delivered.

  • Carry out full line management responsibilities including PDRs and disciplinary processes where required.

The successful candidate will have:

  • ONC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Eng. Tech or equivalent.

  • Proven experience in electrical or mechanical engineering & construction works, including time in a managerial/project engineering role.

  • Strong background in design and design management.

  • Experience in electrical estimating, cost analysis, resourcing, planning, and technical writing.

  • Expertise in project planning, sequencing of works, and critical path planning.

  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to produce and maintain construction budgets.

  • Knowledge of:

    • BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations (current edition)

    • Electricity at Work Regulations 1989

    • The Electricity Supply Regulations 1988

    • CDM 2015 Awareness

  • Qualifications/competencies: IOSH Managing Safely, Level C Substation Access, PTS / ICI / OLEC 1.
