Your new companyAn established environmental consultancy is seeking a Peatland Hydrology Technical Director to join its Water Environment team. The team primarily supports clients in the residential, renewable energy, and utilities sectors, with ongoing efforts to expand its expertise and service offerings. Your new role

  • Lead complex assessments and restoration strategies for wetland ecosystems
  • Manage hydrological surveys, feasibility studies, and environmental evaluations
  • Produce and review technical documentation for regulatory and planning submissions
  • Monitor emerging trends and scientific developments in wetland hydrology
  • Implement and maintain rigorous quality assurance protocols
  • Cultivate relationships with new and existing clients
  • Drive proposal development and contribute to strategic business growth
  • Represent the consultancy in meetings, offering expert guidance and solutions.
  • Mentor junior professionals and support career progression
  • Identify gaps in technical capabilities and lead internal training initiatives
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and forward-thinking workplace culture

What you'll need to succeed

  • Extensive background (10+ years) in wetland hydrology, restoration, or related environmental sciences
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field (postgraduate qualification preferred)
  • Membership or accreditation with a recognised environmental or scientific body
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication
  • Proven ability to navigate complex regulatory environments
  • Experience engaging with stakeholders and regulatory agencies
  • Commercial awareness and experience contributing to business development
