Murray Recruitment are recruiting an Estimator for our client based in South Lanarkshire. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established and growing business on a 12-month fixed term contract covering maternity cover. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting business growth through accurate and timely estimation and tendering.
Role Overview:
The Estimator will be responsible for interpreting architectural drawings and technical documentation to produce detailed quotations and cost breakdowns. This role requires a methodical and analytical approach to ensure all client requirements and regulations are met. The Estimator will work closely with the wider team, customers, and suppliers, helping to secure new projects and smoothly transition successful bids into live jobs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret architectural drawings and technical submissions.
- Understand, interpret, and apply technical and regulatory requirements (training provided).
- Research and assess material, labour, and access needs for each project.
- Produce accurate and sometimes complex quotations with detailed breakdowns or Bills of Quantities.
- Follow up on submitted quotations and keep the CRM system updated.
- Support the handover of newly secured projects to the project delivery team.
- Maintain positive relationships with customers and suppliers.
- Respond to technical queries with the support of the internal team.
- Attend pre-start or pre-tender meetings with support from colleagues.
- Proactively seek and generate new leads and enquiries, including using platforms such as Barbour ABI.
Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in a similar estimating or technical sales role is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and technical drawings.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Comfortable liaising with a range of stakeholders including clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CRM experience advantageous.
- Self-motivated and organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
