HR Generalist – Glasgow/Edinburgh Newly Created Role | GateGroup
A rare opportunity to join a global leader and shape HR from the ground up.
We're creating a brand new HR Generalist role to support our Glasgow and Edinburgh operations. This is your chance to join GateGroup – a global organisation with serious ambition – and build something meaningful from day one.
This role is split 60% recruitment and 40% HR generalist work, so you'll need to be comfortable switching between sourcing talent and supporting managers through the full spectrum of employee relations.
What you'll be doing:
Recruitment (60%):
- Drive local recruitment campaigns and manage the entire hiring process
- Plan and implement seasonal recruitment ahead of demand
- Work with agency providers to ensure coverage and contingency planning
- Organise selection processes and participate in hiring decisions
- Handle work permit applications and ensure compliance with security vetting
HR Generalist (40%):
- Provide expert advice to managers on ER matters – disciplinaries, grievances, capability, absence management
- Support restructuring, redundancy, redeployment, and retirement processes
- Manage occupational health referrals and short/long-term absence cases
- Advise on contractual issues and terms and conditions
- Represent HR at internal and external meetings
- Maintain accurate, secure HR records and produce management reports on key metrics
- Identify and implement improvements to HR systems and processes
- Support training delivery, including induction programmes
- Organise employee events and manage internal communications
What we're looking for:
- Solid ER/IR experience with current employment law knowledge
- CIPD qualified or working towards it
- Confident managing the full recruitment lifecycle
- Strong communicator – written and verbal – who stays calm under pressure
- Excellent attention to detail and highly organised
- Strong IT skills across Microsoft Office
- A self-starter who works autonomously and manages competing deadlines
- Tactful, approachable, fair, and discreet
- Someone who thrives in ambiguity and enjoys building things from scratch
Why this role?
This is a newly created position, which means you'll have genuine influence over how HR operates locally. You'll work closely with the HR Business Partner and UK Resourcing Manager, but you'll have the autonomy to make an impact from day one.
If you're ready to join a global organisation where your expertise will genuinely shape the function, let's talk.
