A Glasgow-based Contractor with an established Development arm is offering an exciting opportunity for an Entry-Level Development Surveyor. This role is perfect for a motivated individual looking to begin their career within a dynamic development team, with genuine long-term prospects for progression and full professional support, including assistance toward achieving RICS chartership.
You will work closely with experienced colleagues across a wide variety of development activities, gaining valuable hands-on experience and contributing to meaningful residential projects.
What You’ll Be Involved In
You will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills in:
- Take offs
- Cost planning
- Ongoing review of financial viability of developments
- Financial reporting on private development projects
- Management of design teams
- Programming of development projects
- Statutory consents (Planning permissions, Building Warrants, etc.)
- Land bidding and negotiation
- Liaising with clients
Your Initial Responsibilities
You will begin by supporting the team with:
- Completing take offs (both software-based and manual)
- Assisting in the production of cost plans
- Issuing enquiries to the supply chain
- Supporting the management of design teams
- Assisting with internal financial reporting
- Contributing to design and specification reviews
- Attending design and client meetings
- Liaising with colleagues across Technical and Estimating departments
There is genuine potential to progress into a more senior role as your skills and experience grow.
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications & Experience
- BSc in Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, Construction Management, or currently in your final year
- Experience undertaking take offs
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- Basic understanding of residential construction
- Office experience (preferred but not essential)
- Full UK driving licence
