Morgan Hunt are recruiting for the University of Glasgow who require a proactive Incident Response Lead to drive the University's cyber incident response and operational resilience efforts. You will develop a standardized approach to incident response, enhance the University's ability to manage cyber threats, and safeguard students, staff, research, and partnerships.

Role OverviewAs the sole Incident Response Lead in the Information Security team, you will coordinate incident response efforts, collaborate with internal departments, and engage with external stakeholders including vendors and national bodies like the NCSC. You will also shape the University's response framework and improve its resilience strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the University's incident response policy and framework

  • Coordinate responses to resilience incidents, including those from regulated entities and critical third parties

  • Organize and lead tabletop simulations and incident response exercises

  • Maintain and update disaster recovery and business continuity plans

  • Ensure alignment with relevant standards and maintain up-to-date playbooks

  • Track incident metrics in partnership with governance and risk teams

  • Report on incidents to internal stakeholders and external authorities

  • Provide expert guidance and mentorship within the security team

  • Analyze incidents and contribute to resilience maturity and improvement

Requirements

Knowledge & Qualifications (Essential)

  • Degree or equivalent qualifications/experience in a relevant field

  • Strong understanding of incident response, resilience, governance, and assurance

Desirable

  • Certifications in incident management

  • Broad IT knowledge, including cybersecurity best practices

Skills (Essential)

  • Experience leading and managing incidents in high-pressure environments

  • Strong communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to convey technical information to varied audiences

  • Skilled in problem-solving and strategic thinking

Experience (Essential)

  • Proven leadership in incident response and resilience

  • Familiarity with frameworks like NIST

  • Experience working across multiple technical and functional areas

  • Ability to perform under pressure with strong attention to detail

Desirable

  • Background in education or public sector

  • Experience managing vendor relationships and large-scale incidents

  • Exposure to large, complex organizational structures
