Be-Resourcing are proud to present a fantastic new Trainee Underwriter role for our client, a UK-based mutual organisation providing legal, regulatory, and indemnity support to healthcare professionals.
Based in Glasgow, the successful candidate will support the Underwriting Department in the respect of new applications; underwriting and pricing of corporate business; assisting with administrative tasks in a timely and accurate manner, gathering and collating claims information in preparation of underwriters review, managing mid-term adjustment queries and the assistance in developing an underwriting database, preparation and data analysis of Underwriting MI.
Key Responsibilities:

Underwriting acceptance of new applications in line with guidelines and authority limit.
-
Reviewing corporate applications in line with guidelines and authority limit.
-
Supporting the underwriting function with administrative tasks.
-
Assisting in the renewal and audit of members to ensure that grades and subscriptions are appropriate.
-
Assisting in the response to queries arising from or in respect of existing members.
-
Collating and presenting claims information in preparation of underwriter review.
-
Point of contact for general underwriting queries – building good working relationships.

To assist with technical underwriting performance monitoring and reporting/MI.

To assist with the HRUG function and reporting.

Support investigations relating to potential fraudulent claims.
Key Competencies:

Ability to work with internal systems including Decisions, CRM, SharePoint;

Collation and presentation of information in a clear and appropriate format;

Decision making within guidelines and authority levels;

Management of a varied workload with competing priorities, responding to internal and external queries in a timely manner;

Key Qualifications/Experience:

Qualifications – Mathematics/Finance Graduate, formal postgraduate qualifications (e.g. CII) advantageous.

Ideally previous experience in an underwriting role.

Ideally previous experience of working with corporate groups.

Knowledge of excel for underwriting performance monitoring and reporting/MI.

Analytical skills to evaluate applicants information, and assist with problem solving.

Organisational skills.

Excellent attention to detail.

Good time management and ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload.
