Town Planner / Senior Town Planner
Location: Glasgow

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading multi disciplinary design practice in their search for a Town Planner / Senior Town Planner to join their established and growing team in Glasgow.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a collaborative environment that brings together planning, architecture, urban design, and sustainability expertise. The role offers exposure to a wide variety of projects across Scotland, including residential, commercial, healthcare, education, and mixed use developments, all focused on delivering well-designed, sustainable places.

The Role
As a Town Planner / Senior Town Planner, you'll play a key role in managing and delivering planning projects from initial concept through to determination. Working closely with architects, designers, and clients, you'll provide expert planning input to help shape innovative and practical development solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing, managing, and submitting planning applications and appeals.

  • Undertaking site appraisals, feasibility studies, and planning assessments.

  • Providing professional advice on planning policy and development strategies.

  • Liaising with local authorities, statutory consultees, and key stakeholders.

  • Supporting and mentoring junior planners as required.

  • Contributing to strategic planning work, policy representations, and business development activities.

About You

  • Degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline (RTPI accredited).

  • MRTPI qualified (or working towards chartership).

  • 3-7 years' experience within planning, ideally in a consultancy or multidisciplinary setting.

  • Strong understanding of the Scottish planning system and development frameworks.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and provide sound planning advice.

  • A collaborative and proactive approach to problem solving.
