Alexander Associates are working with a groundbreaking Launch Provider in the space/defence industry.
Our client is building a world class, Lean manufacturing facility at their factory. To support this growth, they are looking for a proactive and process orientated Production Engineer to join their manufacturing team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting daily manufacturing operations, improving production processes, ensuring product quality and driving output capacity. Teamwork and collaboration are at the forefront of their manufacturing operations, to ensure that they deliver to the highest standards.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in a Lean manufacturing environment, driving operational excellence through the application of best practice. Experience in the manufacture and assembly of electro-mechanical products is also a must have.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
- Champion Lean Manufacturing principles to identify bottlenecks, reduce waste and embed best practice across production.
- Design and implement process changes to improve production efficiency, productivity and quality.
- Specify, design and develop production equipment, jigs and fixtures.
- Write and maintain accurate and clear production SOPs.
- Collaborate with production, engineering and quality teams to introduce product changes and manage issues.
- Support the introduction of new technologies and equipment.
- Work closely with the H&S Officer to maintain and improve site safety.
Essential Experience & Skills
- 5+ years in a production or process engineering role in an electro-mechanical assembly environment.
- Detailed knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and best practice.
- Experience of process design, continuous improvement.
- Strong problem-solving skills and knowledge of root cause analysis.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- A proactive and enthusiastic attitude with the ability to work independently in a fast-moving environment.
Desirable Experience & Skills
- HND or Bachelor’s degree in an engineering related field (Aerospace / Mechanical etc.)
- Intermediate CAD design skills (Solidworks, Inventor etc.)
- Programming/ electronics knowledge for debugging of electronic systems
- Understanding of quality processes to support change and supplier feedback
Additional Requirements
- Valid passport, including right to work in the UK
- Full driving licence is preferred
- Must be willing to work overtime and weekends, going the extra mile to meet critical company deadlines
- Must be willing to work in a dynamic teamwork-oriented environment
- Must be determined to make a significant contribution to UK Space launch capability
