ENVIRONMENTAL & SUSTAINABILITY TRAVEL LEAD - 12 MONTHS - INSIDE IR35
One of Loriens leading Glasgow based Public Sector clients is looking for a Environmental & Sustainability Travel Lead to join their team on an initial 12 month contract with chance of extension. This will require 2-3 days per week in Glasgow based offices.
Person SpecificationThe ideal candidate is likely to have a background in sustainable and active travel. They will have a true passion in this area and be able to demonstrate that they can instigate and deliver solutions. They will have a strong background in sustainability, particularly within travel. They will have the ability to conduct benchmarking, scan the external environment for new solutionsand be able to measure the success of their initiatives. Excellent analytical and communication skills are a key requirement for the role, as well as being able to influence ata senior level.
Main Duties
- Working within the organisation and with the Executive team to raise corporate awareness in relation to Climate adaptation, mitigation, and Environmental Performance
- Development of organisation and group strategy / strategic aims in terms of Climate adaptation, mitigation and Environmental performance.
- Working internally to develop and communicate a clear vision in relation to Climate reporting and Environmental performance which supports Strategic Business Plan and direction.
- Project Management of work streams related to Environmental Performance and climate action
- Developing internal policy and delivering the associated action plan
- Working internally to develop and communicate a clear vision in relation to Climate reporting and Environmental performance which supports Strategic Business Plan and direction
- Identifying options and actions to mitigate climate reporting and environmental performance risks and delivery of these actions
- Monitoring oversight of grant conditions on active travel, cycling, climate resilience and sustainability. Where there are anticipated variances to the delivery plan, ensuring that these are discussed with appropriate mitigating actions
- Working with finance team to identify the business gaps in relation to mandate environmental legislation, providing a project approach and plan to ensure that they are compliant in future reporting years with both current and future environmental legislation and performance requirements.
- To undertake monthly review meetings with the train operator functional leads to review progress against the grant conditions and to provide advice and guidance as required to ensure these are on track to be met in line with the specific grant agreement timescales.
- Identifying Climate reporting and Environmental performance risks both to the organisation and the group in support of continued business improvement and performance
- External stakeholder engagement and networking building to support in maturing its approach to Climate reporting and Environmental performance. Including the development of an informal mentorship programme.
- Creating positive internal and external relationships, ensuring credibility and trust is developed by attending a range of meetings.
