Overview
This role will support both commissioning and programme leadership teams on a major defence/nuclear programme.

The role has two main aspects. One is making sure both the base and the supply chain are able to deliver the work. That also means helping partner organisations who aren’t yet prepared and working out how to get a large workforce organised and ready to go.

The other is about planning how the organisation will take on the full capability once it’s delivered. This includes bringing together the commissioning and testing plans so the project can move smoothly from development into full operational use.

Candidate Requirements
Essential

  • Strong planning knowledge.
  • Experience working on large-scale programmes, ideally within defence, nuclear, or highly regulated industries.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Engineering appreciation – understanding how systems are built and operate. Previous engineering background is desirable, but not essential.
  • Familiarity with commissioning, testing, and validation processes would be highly valuable.
  • Decision-making ability – able to work independently and provide direction.
  • Background as an Interface Manager, Project Manager, or similar, with schedulers/planners as support.
  • Experience in defence/nuclear sectors strongly preferred; oil & gas experience could be transferable.

Desirable

  • Verification & Validation experience.
  • Previous experience working in regulated defence/nuclear environments

Experience, Training & Qualifications

  • Delivery of infrastructure in nuclear or highly regulated environments.
  • Commissioning management/planning experience.

Working Arrangements

  • Hybrid role – 2 days remote, 3 days on-site (flexible according to project needs).
  • Occasional travel to other UK sites may be required.
