About the Opportunity

Would you like to be part of an exciting opportunity that has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to play a key role in establishing a brand-new civil engineering team within a business with over 20 years of history?

This role offers the chance to build something from the ground up — shaping strategy, leading delivery, and helping to expand the business/team. It’s a perfect opportunity for someone ready to step into a more strategic, office-based position while staying close to hands-on project delivery.

The Role

As Project Manager, you’ll oversee the full lifecycle of marine civil engineering projects (I,e. piers, jetties, slipways, sea defence), from tendering through to completion. Working across Scotland (and occasionally internationally), you’ll have the autonomy to shape the department’s operations and establish best practices for future growth.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading tendering, budgeting, and delivery of marine and water-related civil engineering projects
• Managing multiple projects, assessing risks, rewards, and prioritisation of workload
• Working closely with operations teams to maximise asset utilisation
• Building relationships with clients and stakeholders, promoting collaboration and trust
• Coordinating with international engineering teams on multi-operational projects

About You

You’ll be an experienced civil engineer or project manager with a strong delivery background — someone who’s spent time in the field.

Ideal experience and qualities:

• Extensive post-graduation experience in civil engineering
• Proven background in marine, reservoir, or water-related infrastructure projects
• Strong project lifecycle experience — from bid through delivery
• Great people skills, professional respect, and collaborative mindset
• Proactive, independent, and motivated to build a new function from scratch

What’s on Offer

• Salary: £60,000–£70,000
• Enhanced pension
• Private healthcare and life insurance
• Bonus potential
• Long-term growth opportunity to become the civil engineering hub within a wider international group

This is a rare opportunity to shape and lead a brand-new civil engineering capability within a well-established marine organisation — a role for someone who thrives on initiative, variety, and making a tangible impact.

If you’re a civil engineering professional ready to take ownership of something new, we’d love to hear from you.
