Site Manager – Renewable Energy / Civil Engineering Projects

Location: Glasgow, with willingness to travel to projects across Scotland
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Our client, a leading civil engineering contractor specialising in renewable energy infrastructure, is seeking an experienced Site Agent to join their Energy team. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of high-profile projects, contributing to Scotland’s transition to sustainable energy.

As part of the Energy team, you will be responsible for the overall management of assigned projects, reporting directly to the Project Manager. You will oversee all aspects of project delivery within a civil engineering environment, including reinforced concrete structures, bridges, large-scale earthworks, underground services/drainage, and road construction.

Your role

Site Management

  • Drive the commercial performance of projects and ensure successful delivery
  • Ensure works are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards
  • Prevent environmental incidents and maintain compliance with HSEQ requirements
  • Produce and implement project plans, RAMS, ITPs, and waste management plans
  • Create and manage project programmes and procurement schedules
  • Lead, manage, and develop the engineering team

Client Interface

  • Represent our client professionally to clients, stakeholders, and the public
  • Ensure project deliverables meet or exceed client expectations

Cost Control

  • Work closely with the Commercial team to manage and optimise project cost plans
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
  • Maintain accurate site records and diaries

Reporting

  • Produce clear and accurate monthly reports for clients and internal stakeholders
  • Chair weekly site meetings

The Ideal Candidate

  • Significant experience in the Civils industry, particularly infrastructure projects
  • Working knowledge of NEC contracts, CDM regulations, design management, programme and risk management, and cost control
  • Strong communication, leadership, and team management skills
  • Proficient in IT systems, particularly Microsoft Office suite
  • SMSTS 5-Day Site Safety certification preferred (training can be provided)
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and influence positive outcomes
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Flexibility to work weekends, shifts, and away from home when required

Essential Requirements

  • Valid CSCS Manager card
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Full First Aid certification
  • Degree, HNC, or HND in Civil Engineering
  • CAT and Genny trained

  • Willingness to travel as required
