Main Function (Quantity Surveyor)

The purpose of this role is to ensure cost control of developments, paying subcontractors and reporting movements with monthly valuations on Oracle JD Edwards (JDE) software.

Key Functional Areas (Quantity Surveyor)

The role shall include various commercial duties, including the following:

路 Procurement of sub-contract trades

路 Contract management of appointed sub-contract trades

路 Preparation of site budgets

路 Consolidation and analysis of monthly commercial reports

路 Management of sub-contractor payments

路 Liaising with the finance teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting of live developments is maintained

路 Expectation to attend meetings onsite (Development Meeting process) to discuss contractor performance/quality.

路 Monthly valuation meetings with Key trades onsite.

路 Attend site to access progress and report to Commercial Manager for DEV Spend review.

路 Comply with MHL policies and procedures and Divisional procurement implementation plans.

Key Capabilities Required (Quantity Surveyor)

(1) Skills, Capabilities and attributes

路 Surveying skills gained with a recognised house builder or within the wider construction sector with the ability to work to set monthly reporting timescales.

路 Familiarity with Excel as an analysis tool

路 Numerical skills with ability to undertake cost analysis and to prepare budgets

路 Communication skills with ability to work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders

路 Organised and able to manage multiple projects and demands on workload at any one time

(2) Behavioural Attributes

路 Motivated to work independently but as part of a team when required

路 Must be capable of being a good team player and be able to interact with other departments

路 Must understand the wider business needs, and demonstrate the commitment to see that these are achieved

(3) Knowledge, Experience and Qualification

路 Experience of working for a house building organisation or the wider construction sector is essential

路 A recognised surveying qualification either HNC or HND would be desirable
