Software Architect with Microsoft strengths, required for a small but growing software company in Cumbernauld.

The company:

They are a small business of around 20 employees, however are growing and have recently pivoted their focus into becoming a technology company. They specialise in a very niche area of storage solving, and have been in business for 30 years. However, they have recently built some software that allows companies to solve this problem themselves, utilising their technology.

As they operate in the manufacturing space and a lot of their manufacturing production is currently done on site, the role does require someone to be in the office Monday to Thursday (4 days a week). However, you can work from home on Friday and it is also a half day - so only a 4.5 day working week.

The role:

This is a brand new position for the business, as they grow out their software capabilities. They currently have a Software Engineer in place as well as an outsourced software team, but have plans to gradually bring these skills more in house.

You will come on board as a Software Architect, who will likely also have some Product Owner responsibilities in the long-term (due to it being a smaller business). The task at hand is to effectively re-architect a whole new software solution from scratch - some very interesting work! Currently they have quite a monolithic system, however are looking for someone to architect the system in Microsoft Azure and modernise it. You will also work quite closely on SQL Server, so having a data slant to your skills will be beneficial.

The interesting work will include adding in API's and other more technical add-ons, effectively modernising the product. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in shaping the product development lifecycle as well as generally driving the design, development and delivery of the software product. The role isn't massively hands-on, however an ability to understand code and potentially code at times, would be beneficial. The role will also have a client-facing element to it, so prior experience of this would be ideal.

You'll work very closely with the leadership team as well as other high-calibre Engineers that have been brought in specifically for this project - they really do want to bring in the best team possible. The team are a very close unit and whoever comes in will be expected to be an integral part of this, so they're looking for someone that wants to really get to know all parts of the business.

Key Skills required:

** A background in software architecture and design across Microsoft technologies and Azure cloud

** Database knowledge in SQL Server would be an added bonus

** API design and development

** Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to define product vision, roadmap, and features, prioritizing tasks based on business value and user feedback

This role is an opportunity to help build and develop a product that could really take off and take the industry by storm. Although a small company now, there is huge room for growth both from a company and individual perspective, with you being a key player in this.
