Planner – Civil Engineering
Location: Glasgow

Our client, a well-established and highly respected Civil Engineering Main Contractor with an annual turnover of £150 million, is seeking to appoint an experienced Planner on a permanent basis, based in Glasgow. This role forms part of their civil engineering division, delivering a diverse range of projects across Scotland under a significant long-term framework agreement.

As a Planner, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of complex infrastructure projects. You will work closely with project and bid teams to develop robust programmes, monitor progress, and contribute to the efficient and timely execution of works.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the management of change, particularly regarding its impact on programmes and project progress

  • Collaborate with bid teams to develop outline programmes for tenders

  • Develop NEC-compliant programmes from first principles, using relevant scopes, specifications, and drawings

  • Identify contract requirements, deliverables, and constraints

  • Assist in the preparation and development of detailed, workable project programmes

  • Liaise with other departments to ensure programmes accurately reflect all associated activities and logic

  • Monitor project progress, analyse scheduling trends and cost data, and produce reports and recommendations in a proactive and timely manner

Skills and Experience:
  • Educated to degree or HNC level in a relevant Civil Engineering discipline

  • Proven experience working on power or substation-related projects

  • Demonstrable experience as a Planner or Senior Planner within a main contracting environment on high-value schemes

  • Strong contractual awareness, ideally with experience of NEC3 or NEC4 contracts

  • Committed to promoting and maintaining a strong health and safety culture on all projects

  • Proficient in Primavera P6 – essential; knowledge of Microsoft Project and other planning software is advantageous

  • Highly organised and methodical, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
