Job Summary

  • The Projects Technical Lead (Mechanical/E&I) will provide technical leadership to a multi-disciplinary project team, ensuring the successful delivery of custom-built compressor packages in full compliance with client and project specifications. Reporting to the Projects Department Manager, the role will oversee and guide project engineers and document controllers across multiple projects, ensuring technical, commercial, and quality objectives are achieved.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure custom-built compressor packages are delivered in line with client and project specifications from project handover through to final delivery.
  • Review, guide, and steer design and production activities to ensure applicable standards are met without over-engineering or unnecessary programme delays.
  • Engage directly with clients, suppliers, and internal teams (Project, Production, Design, and QHSE) to ensure full alignment with requirements, including:
    • In-house specifications
    • Regulatory processes
    • Material and design standards (e.g. ASME VIII, PD5500)
    • Electrical and Instrumentation industry standards
  • Support project teams in resolving technical and commercial challenges, identifying appropriate solutions while protecting commercial and contractual interests.
  • Guide and expedite design activities to ensure drawings meet project specifications and support production schedules.
  • Support the creation of key technical documentation, including:
    • Manufacturing Record Books (MRB)
    • Installation & Operation Manuals (IOMs)
    • Datasheets
  • Capture and manage project lessons learned and update internal technical guidance documentation to support future projects.
  • Drive design standardisation initiatives to improve cost efficiency and reduce delivery times on future projects.

Requirement
Essential

  • Knowledge of industry material and design standards (e.g. ATEX, ASME)
  • Strong understanding of P&ID and GA drawings
  • Microsoft Office packages (including Project)
  • Project management capability
  • PO and contract management (technical & commercial)

Desirable

  • Onshore and offshore skid package builds
  • Rotating equipment experience
  • Electrical & Instrumentation specification experience
  • End-user and EPC interaction experience
  • Team leadership / management experience
