We are working on behalf of a global Aerospace engineering and manufacturing business in the aerospace sector. We are seeking a highly skilled Supplier Materials Quality Engineer - Team Leader to join their dynamic and growing team.

In this exciting and pivotal role, you will report to the Supplier Quality, Industrial, and Flow Manager and take the lead in developing and managing a specialist Materials Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) team. You will play a key role in supporting global operations by developing, qualifying, and auditing existing and new raw material suppliers, forging companies, and casting businesses across the UK and overseas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop, and mentor the materials SQA team to achieve set objectives.

  • Support global material supplier development and auditing activities in line with group requirements.

  • Collaborate closely with the Materials and Process Laboratory and Material Validation Board to recommend and qualify new material sources and processes.

  • Drive the construction and implementation of a three-year rolling audit plan to ensure all critical suppliers and material routes are validated.

  • Act as a site focal point for material and processing-related issues and support new initiatives.

  • Collect, analyse, and monitor mechanical and chemical material data to identify trends and drive supplier performance improvements.

  • Solve technical problems using robust root cause analysis methods and ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

  • Train and develop suppliers in FMEA, statistical methods, and quality tools, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Undertake global travel to support qualification, auditing, and supplier development activities.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A Degree or HNC (or equivalent experience) in a relevant technical discipline.

  • Ideally in-depth knowledge of materials manufacturing, forging, and casting processes.

  • Strong auditing experience, ideally certified to Lead Assessor level.

  • Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills.

  • A methodical approach with strong attention to detail and accountability.

  • Ability to work proactively and independently.

  • Proficiency in quality principles, standards, lean tools, and problem-solving methodologies.

  • A full UK driving licence and a valid passport with willingness to travel internationally.
