Job Responsibilities

  • Provide practical advice to achieve customer goals and ensure value for money.

  • Use specialized knowledge to achieve excellent results.

  • Conduct market and supplier research to inform procurement strategies.

  • Lead or support specific procurement projects and attend meetings as needed.

  • Evaluate and maximize social value in procurement activities.

  • Maintain effective communication with stakeholders and suppliers.

  • Assess and manage risks in procurement processes.

  • Stay updated with policy and legislative changes.

  • Ensure compliance with legal and council requirements.

  • Prepare procurement strategies and recommendations.

Person Specifications
Must Have

  • Experience in procurement or commissioning environments.

  • Ability to translate needs into specifications and tender documents.

  • Experience managing complex tenders.

  • Market and supplier research skills.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Good commercial and cost awareness.

  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Knowledge of procurement regulations and contract management.

  • High level of literacy and numeracy (GCSEs Grade A – C).

  • Working towards CIPS level 3 or equivalent.

Nice to Have

  • High level of public sector procurement knowledge.

  • Data analysis and insight skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage conflict effectively.

  • Advanced commercial skills, including negotiation and project management.

  • Working towards CIPS level 4 or a related graduate-level discipline.

  • Literacy and numeracy evidenced by A levels (Grade A – C).
