I'm working with a long-standing, privately owned regional main contractor that's looking to appoint a Junior or Intermediate Quantity Surveyor into their small works and insurance projects team.

This is a hands-on, varied role supporting the commercial delivery of refurbishment and reinstatement projects-covering fire, flood, and structural damage repairs-as well as small-scale school and commercial refurbishments.

You'll be joining a small, close-knit team that values initiative, accountability, and the ability to see a project through from start to finish.

The Role:

  • Support the delivery of small works projects (typically 10k-500k in value)

  • Assist with estimating/pricing from first principles - labour, plant, materials

  • Work with schedules of rates (SoRs), and negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers

  • Handle valuations, variations, and final accounts

  • Liaise with internal teams, loss adjusters, insurers, and clients

  • Office-based in Gloucester with occasional site visits

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years' experience in a commercial or quantity surveying role (main contractor background preferred)

  • Able to price from basics (labour, plant, materials) and interpret schedules of rates

  • Based within one hour of the Gloucester office

  • Confident, proactive, and comfortable working within a smaller commercial team

  • Experience with insurance works or refurbishment projects is a strong advantage

What's on Offer:

  • Competitive salary (based on experience)

  • Company car or car allowance (negotiable)

  • Company pension and private healthcare after probation

  • Standard holiday entitlement + bank holidays

  • Stable, supportive working environment with real opportunity for long-term development
