About the Role:

We are seeking a proactive and strategic Supply Chain Lead to join our mid-sized manufacturing client in Gloucester. This role is ideal for someone looking to take the next step from a Senior Buyer position or for an established lead looking for a new opportunity, to make the role their own and to define and drive supply chain strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Management: Manage and mentor a Purchasing Assistant.
  • Departmental Responsibilities: Oversee departmental functions and contribute to overall business strategy.
  • Strategy Development: Define and create supply chain strategies, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • NDA Management: Understand and manage the nuances of Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs).
  • Data Preparation: Prepare KPIs and data for board presentations and supply decisions.
  • Supplier Management: Improve OTIF (On-Time In-Full) performance, rationalize supplier pools, and enhance supplier quality.
  • Cost Savings: Manage a £5 million spend across 3000 SKUs, including both direct and indirect sourcing and focusing on cost savings and efficiency.
  • Procedure Review: Review and update rules and procedures, including leading an upcoming IT contract review.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience: Background in manufacturing is preferred but not essential
  • Skills: Strong strategic thinking and ability to create and implement strategies.
  • Proactive: Able to drive initiatives and work agilely in a reactive business environment.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a mid-sized business with minimal hierarchy.
  • Leadership: Ready to take on departmental responsibilities and lead a team.
