Head of Technical Projects (Mechanical and Electrical)
The Role:
The Head of Live Technical Projects ensures the successful technical delivery of data centre projects through close coordination with departments and stakeholders to oversee design implementation and commissioning. You will lead detailed planning and execution, ensuring the team understands project specifications, and act as the primary technical client contact, maintaining strong relationships with clear communication and commercial awareness.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage internal teams to deliver projects.

Manage external stakeholders effectively.

Oversee technical project delivery, ensuring compliance with specifications.

Ensure adherence to mechanical and electrical design standards and regulations.
-
Maintain clear communication with stakeholders to mitigate risks.
-
Develop technical project programmes with internal teams and subcontractors.
-
Mentor the Commissioning Manager and support the commissioning team.
-
Ensure adherence to SOPs and internal processes.
-
Review design information to facilitate subcontractor work and schedules.
-
Manage subcontractors on technical matters at assembly facilities and on-site.
-
Assist in creating health and safety plans, RAMS, and site procedures.
-
Communicate commissioning readiness expectations to clients.
-
Support project and site teams in liaising with external consultants.
-
Collaborate with the Commissioning Manager to ensure subcontractor performance aligns with schedules and quality standards.

Act as the primary client liaison for on-site technical work.

Monitor and report project progress, including weekly updates for operations and client reports.
-
Chair meetings with stakeholders to address technical delivery and compliance.
-
Identify and implement process improvements with the process improvement team.

Lead the completion and execution of technical QAs.
About You:
Knowledge
-
BEng in an appropriate engineering discipline.
-
Desirable but not essentialMCIBSE/MIEE/IMechE Professional Membership.

5+ years of senior management experience
-
Data centreor critical infrastructure project experience
Experience
-
Minimum of 5 yearsengineering experience at Senior Engineer level or above.

Experience leading dynamic teams in live project environments.

Strong client engagement and communication experience.
